The workshop led by conceptual artist Blanka Kirchner will offer participants a space to explore text as a tool for recording reality. Through working with diary entries, media fragments, and observations of the surrounding world, participants will become familiar with techniques of transcription and rewriting. Texts will then be further developed and modified through short exercises. The workshop will emphasize the question of authorship, selection, and interpretation of recorded reality. The outcome of the workshop will be a textual collage or a short literary piece based on the record of a real day, simultaneously reflecting how we construct a view of the world through language.
Blanka Kirchner graduated from the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (FUD UJEP) in Ústí nad Labem, majoring in Photography and Digital Media. From 2010 to 2013, she worked at FUD UJEP as an assistant in the Performance studio (now Space – Object – Action), led by Associate Professor Jiří Kovanda. Her documenting artistic activities are primarily based on systematically produced daily records, diary entries, authored texts, correspondence, and various verbal and sentence-based happenings. Since 2019, she has been working at the Department of Art, Faculty of Art and Architecture, Technical University of Liberec.
“I am interested in personal memory, the stories of each of us, literature, life, death, love, the people around me, and everyday life, which brings the best, most magical, and paradoxical stories or situations.”
