Amálie Plavcová is a graduate of Fine Arts – Creation in Public Space at the Faculty of Art and Architecture, Technical University of Liberec. She was drawn to art by a love of movement, amazement at the endless transformation of the world, and joy in the strong will to live. Her work exists at the intersection of delicate textile objects that respond to social themes and fleeting site-specific interventions in places associated with controversies from both the past and present. She is interested in the identity of places, their historical weight, as well as their potential for the future. Through interventions emphasizing the theme of temporality, she seeks to briefly enliven these spaces.
Outdoor environments—with their changing conditions, the wind, people with their own stories, and time itself—are an important factor for the artist. The emerging and disappearing scenes remain a fascination for her due to their nonviolent nature, even as they speak of the great continuity of transformations amidst which we live, and from which there is no escape.
