The main methodology of the art group POV is the exploration and disruption of boundaries between different artistic media, primarily between art objects, paintings, sculpture, and architecture. This approach is also applied in the space of the Liebieg Waldvilla, an abandoned building carrying the complex and layered history of the city of Liberec.
Through a generous site-specific installation, the group gives the building’s somber architecture a symbolic “second wind.” Flags and banners will be hung again on the empty flagpoles above the stairs, and strips of fabric will be inserted into broken windows, extending back into the interior of the building, thus confronting the boundary between the exterior and interior space. The artists neither deny nor trivialize the history of the building; on the contrary, they embrace it as the foundational platform for their intervention, with full awareness of the local context and its diversity.
The group also responds to the architecture itself, focusing on its often overlooked visual qualities, which they highlight and make more prominent. They draw attention to details that might escape a casual glance—such as the impressive neo-Baroque staircase or the view from the windows on the building’s façade, opening a generous perspective over the city. Without denying the essence of the place or its heavy past, they emphasize the aesthetic experience of the artwork itself. In keeping precisely with the group’s name, “Poin of view”, this offers an opportunity to temporarily free the building from its historical burden and perceive it from a new, lighter perspective. From there, one can approach the site and its story with a fresh and renewed outlook.
By visiting the building, you acknowledge that you enter the space at your own risk. The villa is not normally open to the public. Entry is not recommended for children under 15 years. Sturdy footwear is advised.
